I’m a writer and editor who lives in Pittsburgh.
I’m currently the digital director of 90.5 WESA, Pittsburgh’s NPR news station, and WYEP, an indie rock station. I oversee digital strategy, products, and analytics for both stations. I led the creation of WESA’s newsletters, the WESA Voter Guide, and site designs for both stations. I’ve also built data visualizations to accompany our storytelling and internal company dashboards to analyze audience and revenue data.
Previously, I served as the news director of WESA for four years. Under my leadership, the newsroom won a variety of awards, including the 2021 Regional Edward R. Murrow award for “Overall Excellence” for large-market radio stations in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.
In the past, I’ve written for a variety of national and regional outlets, frequently covering politics, urban development, the environment, and technology; I also taught journalism at the University of Pittsburgh.
Back in my magazine days, I worked as the executive editor for Boston Magazine and the digital/senior editor of 5280, Denver’s city magazine. My freelance work has appeared in Outside, Backpacker, MIT Technology Review, Real Simple, Skiing, Men’s Journal, The New Republic, Monocle, Chicago Tribune, and Philadelphia Magazine.
